Adult Jazz Ensemble

Age 18+

Learn to improve your knowledge of jazz repertoire and improvisation in this evening ensemble. We'll focus on the most often played jazz and great American songbook standards while listening and playing together. These songs will make it possible for you to go to open jam sessions and quickly connect with other jazz players of your skill level.

Adult Jazz Ensemble meets for 8 sessions, 90-minutes on Tuesday evenings.

To enroll: all levels of ensemble experience are welcome. Players should have at least intermediate instrumental skills.

Please note: Jazz ensembles have rolling registration. Dates and times vary: after registering online, Russ Gershon, BMS Jazz/Rock Coordinator, will contact you to confirm an available time slot that will become your regularly scheduled time.

About

Performing Ensembles

Experience the thrill of team music-making!

Joining a performing ensemble is among the most exciting ways to explore music of any genre in greater depth and to share the experience with fellow musicians in a social, collaborative setting. BMS chamber, jazz, and rock ensembles for youth and adults offer weekly or bi-weekly rehearsals and multiple performance opportunities throughout the year. Small ensemble playing further reinforces the technical and musical skills aspiring musicians need for solo performing and large band or orchestra participation.

Placement in an ensemble is based on an informal placement audition. Each group will receive weekly coaching from one of our distinguished faculty members.
