This class offers preparatory vocal training in a group setting for students not yet old enough for private voice lessons, which typically begin around age 11. Weekly classes focus on building healthy posture and breathing habits while exploring a range of musical styles, from folk to musical theater. Students will sing solo by turn, as well as work on ensemble singing projects with the aid of recording and mixing technology. Class will be held remotely for the 2020 school year, and each class will consist of a 20-minute warm-up video from the teacher and a 30-minute class meeting. The videos are watched prior to class on the students’ own time, and introduce a new song or concept to be further explored with the group.
