Brookline Music School piano faculty member Young Woong Cho presents Four Sonatas written for piano. This concert will feature masterpieces by Joseph Haydn, Nikolai Medtner, Alban Berg and Sergei Rachmaninoff. The program will cover Classical period (Haydn), Romantic (Rachmaninoff), Russian (Medtner) and Contemporary period (Berg) styles. The year 2023 is the 150th anniversary year of Rachmaninoff’s birth, and his piano sonata No.2 will be the climax of the concert. This will be a rare opportunity to hear four piano sonatas in contrasting styles.

Repertoire:

Joseph Haydn (1732-1809)
Keyboard Sonata in C major, Hob.XVI:48

Nikolay Medtner (1880-1951)
Sonata Reminiscenza, Op.38 No.1
