COVID-19 UPDATE
May 25, 2022
Dear BMS Community,
I want to share our latest update to ensure safe music education -- our full COVID-19 Information is online for your reference -- and is revised on an ongoing basis as necessary.
The Town of Brookline reinstituted an indoor mask mandate for schools this past Monday, May 23rd due to rising COVID cases. Brookline Music School (BMS) will also return to an indoor mask mandate consistent with the Public Schools of Brookline (PSB) mask policy, which BMS follows. The BMS indoor mask mandate goes into effect tomorrow, Thursday, May 26th.
This revised mask policy means that all people (two years of age and older) inside Kennard House and in the public school spaces must wear a mask (KN95, KF94, N94 or surgical mask). For winds, brass and voice students, masks made especially for playing and singing should be worn. The PSB choruses and bands are following the same protocols.
Masks will be required not only for lessons and classes/ensembles but also for all performances and events where students, faculty, and audience members will be masked. The only exception to this performance mask policy is for winds, brass and voice students who may perform unmasked if they present proof of a negative antigen test taken on the same day as the performance.
We acknowledge the challenges this once again presents and truly hope that the tide turns quickly with summer around the corner so that we can reverse this policy. Please call our main office at 617-277-4593 or email us at info@bmsmusic.org with any questions.
All the best,
Betsy Frauenthal, Executive Director
