In just six sessions, string students will work together to record orchestral arrangements of three more pieces from Grieg's Peer Gynt: Anitra's Dance, In the Hall of the Mountain King, and Solveig's Song. Students will immerse themselves in this timeless music with group discussion, sectionals, private lessons, score study - and ultimately through collaborative video recording.

Once the workshop videos are completed, these videos will figure side-by side with videos of young dancers on virtual backgrounds - to create an original video ballet of Peer's adventures. Workshop participants, collaborative dancers and artists will have the chance to view the completed project as a "zoom ballet" and attend the ballet as a drive-in movie.

About Performing Ensemble Classes

Performing ensembles at Brookline Music School offer students the unique chance to work together in a social, collaborative atmosphere to sharpen their musical skills and have fun! Ensemble playing requires members to listen carefully to themselves and each other, building a strong sense of rhythm and meter, and a keen ear for intonation, articulation, and dynamics. Students of classical chamber music will be exposed to new composers, forms, and styles that will expand their musical imagination and knowledge. Jazz, pop, and rock ensembles allow endless group combinations and stylistic possibilities for instrumentalists and singers alike.

Placement in an ensemble is based off of an informal placement audition. Each group will receive a weekly coaching with one of our distinguished faculty members.
