Meet the Instruments Month

Age 6-9

Enrollment for Meet the Instruments Month is not currently open.
Please fill out our inquiry form for more information about our next enrollment period.

Based on our very popular summer program, Meet the Instruments introduces your child to a different instrument focus on each of four Sundays. Enroll in selected dates according to your instrument interest and schedule preference. This introduction to the colorful world of musical instruments is a fun, engaging way to learn about instruments such as cello, clarinet, drums, flute, french horn, percussion, piano, saxophone, trombone, trumpet, violin, and more.

Students will interact with BMS faculty experts to first learn something new about the history and repertoire of each instrument before getting an up-close look, hearing it played live, and playing the instruments. Students emerge excited to begin lessons themselves on one (or more) instruments!

Students will be in groups of no more than 6, and the first session that involves wind and brass instruments will take place virtually.

Class one: winds and brass (Jan 16) -- (full)

Class two: piano (Jan 23) -- (full)

Class three: guitar/drums (Jan 30) -- (full)  PLEASE NOTE: Due to snow, Class three:  guitar/drums has been rescheduled to Feb 13.

Class four: strings (Feb 6) -- (full)

About

Classes For Young Children

Our Classes For Young Children are based on Music Learning Theory and research on how children learn music. Students are guided through the stages of music learning (acculturation, imitation and assimilation) to provide understanding for a lifelong enjoyment of music and to prepare for formal instruction.

Our staff and faculty are skilled in early childhood music development and are happy to discuss any of these programs with you. Contact us at info@bmsmusic.org
