Sara enjoys working with all ages and is especially successful working with young beginners. She encourages students to actively participate in their practice and performance curriculum setup by working together with them at the beginning of each term to develop a “contract”. Using this approach, students have a great sense of ownership and take great pride in meeting the goals they themselves set.

Sara Chen, a native of Taiwan, is an accomplished pianist and an experienced instructor based in Boston, Massachusetts. She earned her Master’s Degree in Piano Performance from Longy School of Music, Cambridge and Bachelor’s in Music Education from National University of Tainan, Taiwan.

Sara has taught general music lessons in elementary schools in Taiwan and provided piano, vocal, recorder and flute instructions for both children in various age groups and adults. She also has been giving piano lessons and master classes for many pianists scattered in the greater Boston area for over ten years. Among those, Sara has prepared and helped some students to pass the piano grading examinations given by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM).

Sara has an incomparable enthusiasm for piano and surely this serves as a great Inspiration for her students. Her comprehensive experience in performing, as well as her strong academic background, establishes a solid ground for musicians of the future.

Along with her teaching schedule, Sara maintains a busy performance calendar as an active piano recitalist. She has performed in master classes with Peter Ritzen, Demus Jörg and Victor Rosenbaum. Recitals include performances in and around the U.S., England, Austria and Taiwan.
