Learn to Fiddle!


Have you always wanted to learn how to fiddle?

Join BMS faculty member and Fiddler Tahlia Cott for an hour-long workshop introducing basic fiddle technique and style. You’ll learn fiddle tunes from such music traditions as bluegrass, old time, and Cajun. Students of all bowed string instruments (violin, viola, cello, and bass) with at least one year of private lessons are welcome.

Sunday, June 3, 2018

  • Session I (Ages 6-10): 3:30-4:30pm
  • Session II (Ages 11-adult): 4:30-5:30pm

Tuition

  • $10 for currently enrolled BMS students
  • $15 for non-BMS students 

Requirements

This workshop, offered in two age groupings, is open to students ages 6 through adult. Participants must have a minimum of one year of private study on their string instrument.

Instructor

Tahlia Cott, fiddle, has taught beginning and advanced fiddle classes, as well as a Bluegrass ensemble at the Kanack School of Music in Rochester, NY. She has played fiddle in various bluegrass/ Americana bands, most recently withThe Crooked North, a 5-piece bluegrass band that released their debut album last spring.Tahlia is on the Early Childhood Music and Group Piano faculty at Brookline Music School....
