Brookline Music School 2014 CompetitionsCategory: BMS NEWS Monday, March 24th, 2014
BMS sponsored competitions promote music making at the highest level while maintaining the spirit of friendly camaraderie that characterizes all BMS programs and events. Featured competitions include Piano, Strings and Woodwinds Departments. The competitions offer students an opportunity to prepare a program that will be adjudicated by nationally recognized musicians outside of the BMS faculty. Students benefit from this experience on many levels, including receiving detailed feedback in the form of written comments as well as the sense of accomplishment that comes with preparing and presenting a performance in a competitive setting. In addition, winners receive monetary prizes and are invited to perform in an Honors Recital for winners of all divisions at the end of the school year.
Policy for Participating in BMS Competitions
Students who participate in BMS competitions must be fully enrolled in the lesson program during the semester in which they participate in the competition. Private lesson students must be fully enrolled, with a minimum of 30-minute lessons weekly for the full semester.
