Announcing BMS 2018 Summer Programming!

Summer 18

Brookline Music School (BMS) is proud to announce its Summer 2018 programming for all ages. This summer’s diverse and exciting options include full- and half-day programs, weekly music classes, and private lessons. A full list of programs can be found at

2018 Featured Programs BMS’s most popular programming for young children will return this summer including Music Play (newborn–3 years), Meet the Instruments (6–9 years), and Music & More (4–8 years).

For older students wishing to expand their musical study in a group setting, Brookline Music School offers a variety of summer intensive programs including GuitarLab (10–18 years), a week-long program for young guitarists, and Summer EnsembleFest (10–18 years), a week-long program exploring classical and jazz ensemble playing.

Two new programs have also been added to the BMS summer schedule. Cinema Jukebox @ The Coolidge (10–18 years) gives students the opportunity to study and rehearse repertoire from a classic film to be performed onstage at the Coolidge Corner Theatre before a screening of the move. The BMS Summer Flute Institute (10 years and up) provides a two-day intensive experience exploring all things flute. The program will include a variety of workshops and masterclasses, including a guest masterclass with renowned flutist, Keith Underwood.

Additionally, BMS is proud to announce that it will once again host a Gordon Institute of Music Learning (GIML)  workshop for music educators with special guest Marilyn Lowe, the creator of Music Moves for Piano, from July 30 to August 10.

Beyond group classes and workshops, BMS offers private lessons over the summer. Summer is a great time to delve deeper into musical study, or to begin exploring a musical instrument. During the summer, scheduling for private lessons is flexible, making it easy to find in to a busy summer schedule.

Brookline Music School is conveniently located right off of Route 9 at 25 Kennard Road in Brookline, MA. Most of the BMS summer programs take place at Kennard House, which is easily accessible by car, public transportation, bike, or by foot.

Enrollment opens on January 8, 2018.
