Director of Education and Admissions
Gregory Tolwinski joins the BMS staff with an extensive background as a music educator, administrator, performer, and lifelong music student. Mr. Tolwinski has a strong commitment to Brookline Music School and to its students and families and has served as a piano faculty member for the past three years.
Mr. Tolwinski served for three years on the administration at Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, a community music school of similar mission and scope to BMS. In his roles as Registrar and Director of Administrative Services, a central component of his work was fielding inquiries from perspective students and parents, matching them by personality and interest with appropriate teachers.
In addition to his experience teaching and managing private lessons at BMS, Mr. Tolwinski has demonstrated enthusiasm for educational programming beyond individual instruction. His students have participated in competitions, master classes, and chamber music, as well as the Royal Conservatory and MMTA achievement evaluations. Mr. Tolwinski significantly contributed to the programming of Brookline Music School’s Workshop Week and recently introduced the Teen and Adult Salons. He also organized three student field trips this year with hopes to expand and collaborate on this initiative with other teachers, in addition to recasting an improved Workshop Week as an optional program.
Mr. Tolwinski holds a Master of Music from The Boston Conservatory and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Oberlin College/Conservatory of Music and has six years experience as a piano instructor of all ages and levels.
