Theory, Composition,
Technology
All Ages
2007-2008

These classes provide aspiring musicians with essential skills and an
opportunity to turn their creative instincts into songs and compositions.
Students with a love of computers and music are able to create original music
with the aid of fascinating computer programs and MIDI technology. All
offerings support the Theory goals for Honors Program students. Classes are 45
minutes in length.

Musicianship, Theory & Ear Training All Ages
These classes are offered at all skill levels and cover the essentials of sight
singing, ear training, basic composition and basic keyboard. Private lessons
also available.

Theory Class for Young Students 8-10 years
Computers, fun and games! This versatile class supports private lessons by using
interactive computer software and theory games. A fun way for students to learn
note and rhythm reading, aural skills, keys, scales and chords.

Jazz Theory Class
All Ages
Jazz students will expand their knowledge of the jazz idiom. Class will cover
form, chords and substitutions, scale patterns, ear training, and jazz history,
with a concentration on specific compositions.

Sound Design & Creation
All Ages

Imagination knows no bounds! Experiment with completely new sounds, orchestrate
your own composition, and impress your friends with an audio CD.

Technology Composition
Private Tuition/All Ages
Computer technology and music notation software will help students in their
study of composition, MIDI sequencing and audio recording. Knowledge of basic
music theory is recommended.

Acoustic Composition
Private Tuition/All Ages
Explore music and develop your musical imagination! Shape and build your musical
ideas into a formal piece while honing your skills in harmony, form, notation
and orchestration. Knowledge of basic music theory is recommended.
