Ensembles 
8-18 years
2007-2008
 

Ensembles provide a unique opportunity to experience the joys of music making with others. Brookline Music School has a wide array of ensembles, large and small, catering to a variety of musical abilities and interests. Ensembles are offered year round. Placement interviews (when required) are generally held within the first two weeks of each semester

Registration & Payment

Guitar Ensemble
3-5 Guitarists will play a wide range of music including Classical, Jazz, Pop, Blues & Country. Music will be taught through a variety of different means including notes, tablature and by ear. A concert will be held at the end of the semester to showcase the students’ work. 8 weeks per session and 90 minutes/class.
Instructor: Brendan Burns    When: Wednesdays, 6:30-8:00pm    Cost: $250 Term I: October 10 - December 5, 2007 Term II: February 27 - April 16, 2008
 

Chamber Ensembles
Chamber music groups are open to piano, string and woodwind players of intermediate to advanced levels. After a brief interview, players are assigned to ensembles of three to six players by age, experience and ability. Guided by a coach, groups explore issues such as listening, balance, score reading and sight reading. Groups receive weekly coaching from a BMS faculty member and are encouraged to work towards a performance at the end of the term.
Multiple Instructors    When: Flexible    Cost: $345 (45 min. sessions) or $390 (60 min. sessions)
 

Duet & Ensemble Days
Students learn individual parts on their own or in their regularly scheduled private lesson, then come together with other players for single day and/or multiple day workshops culminating in a performance open to the public. Schedule to be determined by student demand.

Jazz/Rock/Funk Ensembles

These small, flexible and popular ensembles are open to players of all ages and instruments. Work on improvisation skills in a relaxed atmosphere and enjoy multiple performance opportunities. Non-improvising groups are also available. Ensembles are 60 minutes.
