INSTRUCTOR OF PIANO AND BEGINNING  CLASS/GROUP PIANO – IMMEDIATE OPENING 

Brookline Music School seeks an Artist/Instructor of PIANO specializing in youth group and private instruction ages 4-9 years for immediate appointment for Fall Term 2013 and beyond. Group Piano Class instruction is required. Private teaching includes working with ages 6 years and up, including adults. his position also has the potential to include accompanying and coaching chamber music ensembles. Teaching takes place primarily at Kennard House, our main location, with additional instruction in the Brookline Public Schools and other satellite locations.

Date of appointment: September 1, 2013 – the ideal candidate must be available to assume a daily teaching schedule of Tuesdays and Thursdays for both group and private instruction beginning at 2:30pm. 

QUALIFICATIONS
Brookline Music School seeks an individual with a proven record of teaching various age groups who is passionate and committed to growing a studio through solid pedagogy and recruitment. Organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential in order to represent the school to our students’ families. An undergraduate degree in performance or pedagogy is required; a graduate degree or the equivalent – demonstrated through teaching and performing experience – is preferred.

Coordinator of Classes and Student services – Part Time

IMMEDIATE OPENING

Brookline Music School (BMS) seeks an experienced musician, teacher and administrator with exemplary communication and management skills to function as Coordinator of Classes and Student Services. BMS seeks to expand and enhance coordination of all class activities with special emphasis on ages birth to 9 years and assisting families. BMS further seeks to enhance community services and customer relations for our constituency particularly in supporting families in music educational continuity as they move through our programs by assisting with class placement, appropriate program choices, and minimizing attrition. This position is a part time administrative position – 15 hours weekly.

Hours:              9am – 12pm Monday through Friday (however hours will be adapted to assure presence at open houses, special events, faculty meetings, parent meetings, etc.)

Location:         Brookline Music School, 25 Kennard Road, Brookline, MA  02445

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: coordination of all class activities; function as chief point person for all initial family interactions with BMS pertaining to classes and attrition; placement of students in classes; maintaining primary contact with families interested in BMS classes, especially early childhood, dance, Dalcroze/Eurhythmics, group piano, beginning voice and instrumental classes; identifying needs and developing program curriculum in consultation with Director of Education, Executive Director, and faculty; assisting in hiring and evaluating class faculty; managing all incoming communications, follow-up, placement, tracking and reporting for class inquiries; working directly with Registrar for registering placed students; assisting Director of Education in following up with families who are discontinuing classes or lessons to assist in retaining families, providing enhanced guidance and services, and to potentially lower attrition; tracking and reporting class attrition information; coordinating all summer class and programs (except private lessons); greeting walk-ins – serving as front face for Brookline Music School when needed.

Date of appointment: IMMEDIATE– the ideal candidate would be available to assume administrative responsibilities as early as May 1, 2013.
 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Outstanding communication skills

  • Ability to work with a diverse population

  • Knowledge of class pedagogy for ages 0-9 years

  • Organizational and interpersonal skills are essential

  • Desire to lead and develop an outstanding class curriculum

  • Extensive experience working with standard office software including Word, Excel, and database programs

  • Experience and understanding of Mac and PC computer platforms and internet preferred

  • Skills in creative problem solving are expected

  • Ability to coordinate complex schedules and effectively manage faculty and student needs

  • Experience with statistical and financial reporting

  • Strong math skills

  • Masters degree in a music field preferred

  • Five years of prior teaching and management experience preferred

TEACHER OF SUZUKI CELLO
 

Brookline Music School seeks a teacher of SUZUKI CELLO who is also capable and willing to utilize traditional teaching methods for private and group instruction. Private teaching would include – but not be limited to – working with students 4 to 6 years of age. This position also has the potential to include teaching group classes in accordance with the Suzuki Method and coaching chamber music ensembles. Teaching takes place at Kennard House, our main location, with additional instruction in the Brookline Public Schools and other satellite locations.
