Suzuki Flute Workshop – January 19 & 20, 2014

New this year!
Advanced Flute Intensive with David Houston for students in Book 7 & Above or the Equivalent: Discover the Inner Musician through Tone, Technique, Musicality and Interpretation. Advanced Repertoire and Ensemble will be covered. Classes on the basics of musicianship and stepping into the advanced level of flute playing are explored.

Student Program for students in Books 1-6:
Each student will participate in 3 hours of classes daily including:

  • Master Class with 3 or 4 students of similar age and ability
  • Group Repertoire Class
  • Ensemble

Student Program Optional Classes (limited to two):

     Book 1 and Above:

  • Dance: Have a blast exploring how to show the rhythmic, energetic, and emotional qualities of sound through movement.

     Book 2 and Above:

  • Flute Outside the Box: Whistles, Key Clicks, Harmonics and more!
  • Comfluter: Mix flutists with Brookline Music School’s amazing technology lab and create a fun music experiment on the computer! Class fee includes open lab time in the BMS technology lab. 
  • Jazz Improv: “It don’t mean a thing, if you ain’t got that swing!”  Learn to express yourself and improvise in the jazz tradition.

All students must be accompanied  by a parent or guardian.

Rooms have been held at the rate of $138.00/night plus tax at the Brookline Holiday Inn. The Holiday Inn has an indoor swimming pool and is centrally located in Brookline and a five-minute drive from Brookline Music School.
